Adrian TanEngineering Manager, Development
Adrian Tan is presently the Engineering Manager for Murphy Oil Corporation. He supports Murphy’s operations in Malaysia, primarily their deepwater (both FPSO and SPAR) and shallow water assets. Besides operational experience, Adrian brings with him extensive design experience on both new and challenging brownfield projects. As a process engineer, he has a particular interest on flow assurances and topsides process intensification. Adrian believes that one of the driver for topsides cost savings initiative involves simplifying/compacting topsides equipment through intensifying the process. This will accrue weight savings, reduction of equipment and improved safety. Adrian enjoys teaching and mentoring, and holds a parallel position as Associate Professor (Adjunct) with Curtin University, teaching chemical and petroleum engineering topics. Adrian obtained his master’s degree in molecular engineering from a joint MIT-Singapore degree and read his doctorate in NUS, majoring in Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis.
